The Fishermen's Island, also known as the Superior, is the only one in the Borromee archipelago in Lake Maggiore to be permanently inhabited. It is 100 meters wide for 350 meters long, and houses a small hamlet, featuring multi-storey houses with long balconies to dry the fish, with a small square, characteristic narrow alleys, the 35 inhabitants living in fishing and tourism.
Housed for at least 700 years, the island has a parish dedicated to Saint Victor. In the summer, there is a great crowd of visitors walking in the alleyways and buying local crafts in the small and quaint market. Famous in Ferragosto is the procession of the statue of the patron saint of the archipelago on a boat around the islands, surrounded by numerous tourist boats and inhabitants of the area.
